I am a New Jersey-based freelance writer and editor who recently e-mailed a potential source and got this response, "I know this is a fake person just trying to get us to rat out people and im not going to do that! and your probably going to have a hard time getting people to interview because everyone knows this is a scam!" Once I figured out that she meant "composite figure cooked up by the government" and not "shallow," I got over my brief existential crisis (and interviewed all the people involved who were smart enough to figure out that I'm not a fake person, in either sense of the word). Then I went back to my clips page (you can find it here). I write, therefore I am.
GIVE ME IDEAS! I have a column in the environmental magazine Plenty, plentymag.com. The column, where I test out different do-it-yourself ways to save the world and write about them in a humorous manner, is so much fun.
I'm also doing a monthly column for relationship web site The Frisky, thefrisky.com, called The Monogamist.
To make suggestions for stuff you'd like to see me do for Plenty or The Frisky or to drop me a line about anything that's on your mind, e-mail me at contact@annemarieconte.com.
I'M IN THE PRESS (SORT OF)! My story on unassisted childbirths for Page Six Magazine was picked up by Good Morning America and the Men's Journal piece on buying your second home and renting your primary home was featured in the "What's Offline" column in the Business Day section of the New York Times. See both of the original stories on my clips page.
BE A PART OF MY ARMY! I have a stellar e-mail list where I send out requests for people to help out with articles my colleagues and I are working on. If you want to help out with stories, send an e-mail to ACSourceList-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and I'll add you to the list. It averages out to one or two e-mails a month, and you can be taken off the list at any time.
